At Pregnancy Pilates we combine Biomechanics, Yin Yoga and Pilates. The exercises that are done are a combination of standing exercises that challenge you in your balance and exercises that challenge your core. It is not your straight abs that are trained, but your other abs. Those are your transverse and oblique abs. These abs give you stability and the power you need when you are in labor. You learn to tighten your pelvic floor and also to relax the pelvic floor. You learn to stretch and to let go. We also pay attention to the Psoas muscle. This muscle has an important function and connects upper body with lower body. The better you can relax your Psoas, the better your body will relax. Releasing is also what you need for your labor.
